Meet Phil DeGreg

I love playing music for the population that Creative Aging serves. Music is about communication, and I feel so fulfilled being able to touch people so directly. I am a jazz musician, but more and more I find myself just wanting to play melodies of great popular songs, often with a strong beat, and I can see that people are transported to some other place. This is what music if for.
Phil DeGreg is Professor Emeritus of the University of Cincinnati, having taught in the College-Conservatory of Music Jazz Studies program for twenty-seven years. He toured with the Woody Herman Orchestra in the 1980’s, and was the house pianist at Cincinnati’s Blue Wisp Jazz Club for fourteen years, backing up local, national, and international jazz artists. He is the author of a jazz textbook used in universities all over the world, and frequently travels to Europe and Brazil to perform and teach.
