The couple shares songs whose origins were in the British Isles changed during their introduction on the American frontier. Hear unfamiliar carols such as The Kentucky Wassail Song and The Cherry Tree Carol played the old-time mountain way on banjo, fiddle, and lap dulcimer. Participants in the Bear Foot Christmas learn traditional game and dances which help demonstrate how hard everyone played when they got the chance! Gifts were simpler in those far-off days: an orange, a candy cane, or a single homemade toy. Look for the traditional holiday tree -- a gift to the whole family -- to make a surprise appearance in the program, its boughs hung with pictures cut out of magazines, stars made of tinfoil gum wrappers, popcorn and berries strung in garlands, and real candles on the tree.
