Instructor Bio: Helene is a Certified Group Exercise Instructor and E-RYT 200 Registered Yoga Teacher with additional training and extensive experience working with active older adults.
1. Chair Yoga – A 60 minute practice beginning with pranayama (breath work), followed by asana (poses), and closing with a short guided meditation. This program may include standing poses using the chair for support, or you may choose all seated postures for a more gentle session.
2. Senior Strength and Balance – This 60 minute class begins with a seated, yoga inspired full body warmup, followed by seated core work. Participants transition to standing chair supported exercises to strengthen the legs and hips, and improve balance and coordination. Session concludes with seated deep stretches.
3. Restorative Yoga – A 60 minute gentle floor practice that involves long, passive holds in a series of 4-6 restful poses. Participants are supported by props to enhance their experience and facilitate relaxation and release. For this class you will need a Yoga mat, blanket or bolster. If these items are not readily available adjustments can be made, please contact Helene to discuss.
4. Specialty Class – In addition to the programs listed, Helene would be glad to work with you to tailor a fitness or yoga session specific to your needs.
